The Background Dna Damage Level in Peripheral Blood Cells in Halabjas' Survivors-krg-iraq

چکیده
The inhabitants of communities in the Kurdistan area Iraq, particularly Halabja, represent greatest civilian populations ever exposed to chemical weapons. In several sections Region Iraq between 1987 and 1991, Iraqi government conducted a Genocide against Kurds. Various warfare chemicals, such as sulfur mustard nerve agents Sarin, Tabun, cyanide, were used act war. There are scientific indications that weapons alter DNA causes genetic lesions mutation which may eventually cause health problems. Survivors this city till now suffering from variety complaints mild severe fatal one result long-lasting effects chemicals bombing city. From complains developed among survivors Halabja bombardment cancer, respiratory, ophthalmological, dermatological, reproductive immunological complains. It was required for measuring background damage level peripheral cells some Alkaline Comet Assay data reveals varying degrees those born after attack same significantly greater comparison individual living Duhok (age/sex matched). However, measured younger generation (those Halabja) is minimum, could refer only at risk genomic instability

Quantitation of genome damage and transcriptional profile of DNA damage response genes in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells exposed in vitro to low doses of neutron radiation
Background: Humans are exposed to ionizing radiation from different sources that include natural, occupational, medical, accidental exposures. Evaluation of the effect of low level of neutron exposure to human cells in vitro has important implications to human health. Attempts were made to measure genome damage, transcriptional profile of DNA damage response and repair genes in peripheral blood...
متن کاملRadiation therapy induces the DNA damage response in peripheral blood
Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) is a radiotherapy modality that delivers highly conformal, ablative doses to a well-defined target. Here, using a semiquantitative multiplexed assay to analyze ATM and H2AX phosphorylation, we show that ATM kinase activity in peripheral blood mononuclear cells is induced following SBRT. This observation of a systemic ATM kinase-dependent DNA damage res...
متن کاملThe Role of chk2 in Response to DNA Damage in Cancer Cells
Accumulation of gene changes and chromosomal instability in response to cellular DNA damage lead to cancer. DNA damage induces cell cycle checkpoints pathways. Checkpoints regulate DNA replication and cell cycle progression, chromatin restructuring, and apoptosis. Checkpoint kinase 2 (chk2) is activated in response to DNA lesions. ATM phosphorylate chk2. The activated Chk2 kinase can phosphoryl...
متن کاملDNA damage in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and neutrophils of dairy cows during the transition period
This study was designed to investigate the apoptotic process in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and polymorphonuclear neutrophil leukocytes (PMN) in dairy cattle during the transition period. Blood samples were collected from 4 dairy cattle at 3 weeks before the expected parturition (wk -3), parturition (wk 0) and 3 weeks after parturition (wk +3). The DNA damage of PBMC and PMN was e...
متن کاملDNA damage and methylation induced by glyphosate in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (in vitro study).
Glyphosate is a very important herbicide that is widely used in the agriculture, and thus the exposure of humans to this substance and its metabolites has been noted. The purpose of this study was to assess DNA damage (determination of single and double strand-breaks by the comet assay) as well as to evaluate DNA methylation (global DNA methylation and methylation of p16 (CDKN2A) and p53 (TP53)...
